This Summer, The Cathedrals Express steam train is offering Londoners the chance to enjoy the British summer around some of the most scenic countryside in the south east. These two tours will depart from London on the 18th July, with an opportunity to join the train at Slough and Reading for the Lunchtime Tour around the White Horses in Wiltshire.

On Tuesday 18th July, The Cathedrals Express will be departing from London Paddington for a picturesque lunchtime trip to the famous White Horses. Taking you through the Wiltshire countryside, The Cathedrals Express will travel Brunel’s Billiard Table, passing through the Thames Valley.  Hauled by 60009 Union of South Africa, the sister to the famous Mallard, you won’t want to leave your carriage window. Join from London Paddington, Slough or Reading and enjoy a unique experience of the countryside.

We wind towards the outskirts of London, crossing the Thames several times before arriving at Windsor, where there will be a 2 hour break for photographs and to visit the pretty town centre before arriving back into London just after sunset.

    Good afternoon I am on your trip next Saturday evening tour what my grandad brought me in March as he knows I like the flying scotman sadly he has passed away 2 weeks ago would I be able to get a picture with the locomotive in memory for him me standing by the name plate would you be able to get one of your staff to arrange this I totally understand that security will be tight if not I understand

    1. Hi Terry, as you correctly say this will all depend on the crowds on the platform (monitored by station staff), but we will try to organise photo opportunities for all passengers whenever possible.
