Steam Dreams, take me to the beach!

It is hot outside, England have not embarrassed all of us at the World Cup and Steam Dreams have a new website. Could life get any better? Of course it can because we have several August trips that you can book onto, so escape the heat of London and travel with us to a number of destinations. If you are looking for that light summer breeze that only the coast can offer then beat the traffic and travel by steam train to the seaside resorts of Weymouth, Paignton, Bournemouth, Swanage or Minehead.

Weymouth is holding its 700th summer carnival and you can come and join the party with us on Tuesday 14 August, right in the middle of the festivities. Weymouth is famous for its Edwardian buildings and picturesque beach. If you fancy a more laid-back day out then Dartmouth on Thursday 16 August in Devon is perfect for you. Situated on the ‘English Rivera’, it is a beautiful village and has many individual shops selling antiques, homemade fudge and ice cream. Before all of that takes place there is a journey on 29 July where you can choose from two unique destinations – Swanage, which will be holding its annual Carnival and Regatta, or Corfe Castle with its famous castle ruins!

Weymouth beach is the perfect setting for the Carnival with its three miles of golden sand

There is a class of travel to suit everyone from Premium Standard, where tea and coffee is included but you can bring along a picnic or buy sandwiches on board, right up to our decadent Pullman Style Dining, where the on board catering takes centre stage starting with a champagne breakfast or brunch. On the return journey canapés kick off a four course meal complete with half a bottle of wine per person. Don’t worry if you are vegan or have any other food requests because our talented chef can work around any dietary requirements, as long as you mention it when booking.

First Class is perfect for families

Our trips are all about nostalgia and will transport to a time when train travel was considered the best way to travel and when steam trains were considered king. You will be seated in restored 1950’s or 1960’s carriages to take you back in time.

Don’t forget to take full advantage of our family ticket. Our family ticket is a bit different from most –  this one allows two adults and two young people (under 30s) to travel for the price of three!

After all, who doesn’t like to be beside the seaside?
